GDPR is likely to be on your radar by now and many businesses are gearing up to ensure they will be compliant when the EU General Data Protection Regulations come into force from 25 May. But what does it mean for your business and where should you start?
On Thursday 1st February we will be presenting at a GDPR seminar with Loch Employment Law to look at the new regulations from an IT perspective. One of the cornerstones of compliance is data security and we will be looking at the practical steps you can take to ensure you meet your obligations.
A good starting point is to carry out a data risk assessment, following the data you hold on its journey from collection to deletion and all the stages in between. Look at what data you are holding, where you’re holding it, who has access, what it’s used for and how it is transferred. It’s important to view all these stages with privacy in mind and build in the appropriate security .
If you’d like to find out more about GDPR and the practical steps involved in carrying out a data risk assessment you can book a place at our presentation. Gordon Sayers will join Chris Phillips & Gavin Macgregor to discuss the upcoming changes to data protection and what they mean for your business.
